独鉄道大手Deutsche Bahn（DB）は3日、ディーゼルエンジンと電動モーターを併用するハイブリッド機関車をエンジン大手のMTU Friedrichshafenと共同開発したと発表した。近距離鉄道に投入して燃料消費量を25％引き下げることが狙い。今後はプロジェクトを実施して実用性を検証していく。同機関車はベルリン国際鉄道技術専門見本市「Innotrans 2012」で19日に公開される。
