工業ガス大手の独Lindeと建設大手の米Bechtelが北米のエチレン製造装置事業で提携する。シェールガス（シェール層から採取される天然ガスで、近年になって採掘が可能になった）の生産拡大を受けて化学メーカーの間でエチレン製造装置（エチレンクラッカー）の需要が高まっていることに対応。天然ガスからエチレンを作り出すプラントを共同で設計していく。
