製薬・化学大手の独Merckは大型買収を今後3年間は控える意向だ。バイオ大手の米Millporeを今年52億ユーロで買収したため、まずは債務の圧縮を優先する。ただ、化学部門に関しては既存事業を強化するために、やや規模の小さい1億ユーロのケタ台の買収を実施する可能性もある。同社のカールルートヴィヒ・クライ社長が『ファイナンシャル・タイムズ（ドイツ版、FTD）』に対し明らかにした。
