独フォルクスワーゲン（VW）傘下の高級車メーカー、アウディ は、電気自動車（EV）の高性能スポーツコンセプトカー「e-tron（イートロン）」向けに人工音発生装置を開発している。エンジン音のないEVに内燃エンジンをベースにした親しみのある人工音を発生させ、歩行者の安全を守る考え。時速0～25kmで走行する際に静かな人工音を出す技術を開発するという。3日発行の英『Autocar』誌（電子版）が報じた。
