独自動車大手のダイムラー は11月29日、超小型車ブランドのスマートから2014年に電動スクーターを発売すると発表した。スマートはすでに、電気自動車「エレクトリック・ドライブ」と電動アシスト自転車「ebike」を販売している。電動スクーターの開発・生産では、米電動自動二輪メーカーのベクトリックス（Vectrix）と協力する。
