英政府系企業のカーボン・トラストはこのほど、燃料電池の低コスト化に向けたプログラム「ポリマー燃料電池チャレンジ（Polymer Fuel Cells Challenge）」の一環として、同国の開発会社ACALエナジー に100万ポンドを資金支援すると発表した。ACALエナジーは、貴金属の白金（プラチナ）を使わない液体触媒（陰極液）を開発。同技術の採用により、燃料電池車の価格を大幅に引き下げることができると見込まれている。
