電機大手の独Siemensが民主化運動の弾圧で国際的な批判を受けるシリア政府からガス発電所を受注したことが明らかになった。シリアの閣僚が発表し、同社が追認した。首都ダマスカス北方のNasseriehに発電所を建設するプロジェクトで、受注額は3億500万ユーロ。民主化運動の発生前に基本合意していたという。
