独化学大手のBASF は2月27日、兵庫県にある尼崎研究開発センターを拡張し、バッテリー材料に特化した研究施設「バッテリー材料研究所」を新設すると発表した。エレクトロモビリティーおよびスマートフォンやタブレット端末などの民生機器向けの高性能バッテリーの材料を開発する。特に電解液と電極材料に重点を置く方針。今年4月から業務を開始する予定。年内には600平方メートルの拡張工事により新たなオフィスと研究所を新設し、本格的な開発活動を開始する。投資は総額で数百万ユーロになるという。
