独高級車メーカーBMW の英ハムスホール工場（バーミンガム近郊）で6日、エンジン生産が累計で300万基に達した。300万基となったのは1.6リットルの4気筒ガソリンエンジン。同エンジンはオックスフォードにあるMINI工場で車両に組み込まれ、インドに輸出されている。MINIは今年初め、インドにMINI専門販売店3カ所を整備し、市場進出したばかり。英国で生産したエンジンはオックスフォードのほか、ドイツやオーストリアの工場にも供給している。
