オーディオ機器大手の米ハーマン・インターナショナル は、欧州の某大手自動車メーカーのプラグインハイブリッド車にサウンドシステム「HALOsonic」シリーズから「ESS（External Sound Synthesis ）」供給する。ESSは電気自動車やハイブリッド車向けに開発したシステムで、低速度で走行音を発生し、歩行者などが車両に気づかず事故が発生する危険を防ぐ。26日付けの独業界誌『オートモービルインダストリー』（電子版）が報じた。
