英インテリジェント・エナジー は3月26日、自動車向け燃料電池スタックのエネルギー密度が従来の製品を上回る水準に達したと発表した。体積エネルギー密度は3.7kW/L、重量エネルギー密度は2.5kW／kgで、今後さらに改善できると見込んでいる。また、低コストで同水準のエネルギー密度を達成できると説明している。インテリジェント・エナジーとスズキは昨年、自動車および他の分野に投入する燃料電池セルを生産する合弁会社を設立した。
