米自動車大手のゼネラルモーターズ（GM） とフォード は15日、9速および10速の自動変速機（AT）を共同開発することで合意したと発表した。乗用車、クロスオーバー、SUV、トラックに採用する計画という。両社は設計から開発、エンジニアリング、試験、認証、配送といった一連のプロセスで協力し、開発を加速するとともに、投資負担を軽減する。両社が変速機の開発で協力するのは過去10年で3度目になるという。
