現代自動車 は5月12～22日に開催されるバルセロナモーターショーで新型「i40」を発表する。同モデルは4ドアセダンで、ドイツのリュッセルスハイムにある欧州研究開発拠点で開発された。英『Autocar』誌によると、同モデルは英国市場では2012年初めに投入される見通し。スペインではDセグメント車の約4割をセダンが占め、セダンの需要が高いことから、現代自は新型モデルを同見本市で世界初公開する。
