独高級車メーカーのBMW はこのほど、ミュンヘン工科大学に約35万ユーロ相当の炭素素材加工設備を寄付した。BMWは同大学に寄付講座を設け、炭素部材の研究開発を共同で実施している。今回導入したのはカーボン繊維を編みあげる製法で空洞のある部品を製造する設備。共同プロジェクトでは、炭素繊維強化プラスチック（CFRP）の商用生産に向けて素材加工や生産技術について研究・開発している。
