独業界誌『ATZオンライン』（電子版）によると、フォード はデジタルシミュレーション用に子供のダミーを開発している。実際の衝突試験に使用するダミー人形の代わりではなく、研究や開発の初期段階に導入し、乗員が負傷する原因の解明に役立てる方針という。デジタルダミーは、例えば、頭部を作製する場合、脳幹や脳細胞など細かな部位から一つ一つ作り上げていかなければならない。このため、同社では大人のデジタルダミーの開発に11年を費やした。子供のダミーは近い将来、投入できる見通しという。
