米自動車部品大手のTRW はドイツのアルフドルフにある拠点で助手席用の新たなエアバッグの開発を進めている。新製品は、衝突の速度、乗員の体の大きさや座っている位置、シートベルトを着用しているかなどの状況によってエアバッグの圧力や形状を自動的に調整する。TRWは同製品を2013年にも量産化できると見込んでいる。
