独ルフトハンザ航空がデュッセルドルフ空港発着のアジア向け直行便を初めて開設する。同空港の利用シェアでトップのエア・ベルリンを追撃する狙いで、2012年夏から運行を開始する。目的地は東京とニューデリーで、日本のビジネスマンはフランクフルト空港などを経由する必要がなくなる。
