電気通信大手のDeutsche Telekom（ボン）は5日、自動車内での移動通信サービスで自動車大手BMW、レンタカー大手Sixtと提携すると発表した。自動車をLTE通信のホットスポットとする計画で、ドライバーと同乗者がホテルや自宅などでのように高速データ通信サービスを利用できるようにする。

Sixtが貸し出すBMWのモデルで8月からサービスを開始。無線LANに対応した携帯電話機やパソコン、タブレットPCを同時に最大8台、利用できるようにする。通信速度は最高100MBit／s。
