独自動車大手のフォルクスワーゲン（VW）はヴォルフスブルクの本社工場でこのほど、新型プラットフォーム「MQB」の量産を開始した。MQBはコンパクトカーから中型車まで30以上の車種に対応できるとされている。具体的には、2012年に発売予定のアウディ「A3」や7代目「ゴルフ」に同プラットフォームが採用される見通し。VWはMQBの導入によりグループブランド内での部品や生産ラインの共通化を進め、初期投資や生産コストを大幅に削減する狙いがある。2日発行の独業界紙『オートモビルボッヘ』が報じた。
