独自動車大手ダイムラー のディーター・ツェッチェ社長は1日メディアに対し、メルセデス・ベンツのシティーバン「シタン」の安全性向上に取り組む方針を明らかにした。これは、欧州の安全評価機関であるユーロNCAPの衝突安全テストで同モデルが5ツ星評価のうち3ツ星の評価を得るにとどまったことを受けたもの。独週刊誌『シュピーゲル』によると、今回の試験結果を受けてツェッチェ社長に対する批判は高まっており、同社長の進退問題に言及する監査役もいるという。
