独自動車大手のダイムラー は世界市場で販売する15トン以上の大型トラックに搭載する「ワールドエンジン」の生産を将来、ドイツのマンハイム工場と米国のデトロイト工場の2カ所に集約する計画だ。同社のアンドレアス・レンシュラー取締役（トラック・バス事業担当）が22日発行の独『フォーカス』誌に明らかにした。今回の戦略では、低コストで生産できるブラジルやロシアなどの新興国の工場ではなく、両工場の豊富な経験とノウハウが決め手となったと説明した。
