カッセル大学の研究チームはこのほど、歩行者と自動車の衝突事故防止に携帯電話を活用する技術を開発した。携帯端末を通して歩行者の位置や年齢、歩く速度や方向などの情報を伝達・分析し、車のナビゲーションや歩行者が所持する携帯電話の警告音などで危険を知らせる仕組み。同システムでは歩行者と走行車両の間に障害物があっても歩行者を認識できる利点があるが、個人情報保護の問題にどのように対応するかが課題となる。
