化学大手のAkzo Nobelは4日、フランクフルトのヘキスト工業団地にある生産施設を近代化すると発表した。投資規模は約1億4,000万ユーロで、個別別施設を対象としたものでは同社史上最高となる。近代化工事の終了後は、塩素と水酸化ナトリウム溶液の生産能力が現在の18万トンから25万トンに向上する一方で、エネルギーコストは30％低下する。これまでは総コストに占める電力料金の割合が約50％に上っていた。
