自動車大手Volkswagen（VW）のヴィンターコルン社長は経済紙『ハンデルスブラット』のインタビューで、「スズキの現役員がわが社と協働する意思がなくても、次の世代にはそうした意思があるかもしれない」と述べ、スズキとの関係回復に長期的な視野で取り組み意向を示した。両社は09年12月に包括提携したものの、スズキはVWが契約に反して自社のハイブリッド技術などの提供を拒んでいるとして、9月に提携解消とスズキ株19.9％の放出を要求。VWが拒否を続ける場合は仲裁機関に申し立てる意向を示している。
